Workshop #1: 8:00 AM to 11:30
Fair Housing and Disability Awareness for REALTORS® –an interactive workshop for REALTORS®
• Certified for 3 hours credit with Ohio Division of Real Estate either civil rights or elective
• Presented by a team of experienced professionals.
Key Experiences:
• Mobilizing with a manual wheelchair,
• Functioning with a mobility/dexterity impairment
• Hearing impairment and Visual impairment simulations
• Cognitive and Speech disabilities simulation and other experiences
Attendees will
• Gain Knowledge on assisting people with disabilities buy or rent
• Gain Knowledge on levels of accessibility in the design and construction of structural features.
Workshop #2: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Fair Housing and Present-Day Redlining will illustrate how historical injustices create a legacy of systemic
inequality that continues to manifest as ongoing, present-day civil rights challenges.
• Certified for 1 hours elective credit with Ohio Division of Real Estate.
Importance:
• While the Fair Housing Act of 1968 made redlining illegal, its legacy persists today limiting housing and
wealth-building opportunities for historical marginalized protected classes.
Key Experiences:
• Session opens with graphic illustration of “Open Housing” the term used before “Fair Housing.”
• Amy Nelson, Executive Director of the Fair Housing Central Indiana, (FHCCI), will conduct a 60-
minute overview of the work her non-profit in Indianapolis has done to help residents in present-day redlining situations that have persisted there many years after redlining was deemed illegal.
