Empower Your Advocacy: Join the Creative Ohio Advocacy Leadership Institute

Are you someone who is interested in the arts, culture, creativity, and advocacy?  Consider joining Creative Ohio Advocacy Leadership Institute (ALI), which will help you gain practical tools to advocacy with confidence.

CreativeOhio is an advocacy organization and the collective voice for those in roles related to arts, culture, and other creative fields throughout the state. The organization works to increase public funding and support creatives through advocacy, education, and engagement.

ALI is geared toward individuals in the creative fields of Ohio who are looking to sharpen their advocacy skills and join a network of those who champion the arts. More specifically, the leadership institute is meant for the following:

Who Qualifies for ALI

The program is for artsand culture professionals, like those in performing arts, museums, philanthropy, and higher education, who want to lead advocacy for Ohio’s creative scene. Professionals who fit the following categories are encouraged to apply:

Arts administrators and cultural leaders

Nonprofit executives

Advancement, development, and communications professionals

Government, media, and business leaders with a strong commitment to the creative arts

Program Details

If you’re selected, you’ll need to:

Agree to the Time Commitment: Participate in a six-month program from May to October.

Remain Active in Ohio’s Creative Scene: Attend monthly in-person sessions in cultural spots around Ohio. These include workshops, learning about legislation, and visiting various sites.

What ALI Graduates Gain:

Knowledge

An understanding of legislative processes, how to gain public funding, and the influence creative fields have on the economy.

-Know-How

An understanding of how to use practical tools to advocate with your organization, your community, as well as for creativity and the arts statewide.

-Networking

 Relationships with policymakers and a peer cohort of creative leaders from across Ohio.

-Certification

Graduates will be Certified Creative Sector Advocates.

Application Details

How Applicants Are Chosen: A committee selects about 25 diverse participants from around Ohio based on their leadership potential and impact.

Cost: It costs $1,500 to join, but scholarships are available to make it affordable for different organizations.
