Share Your Story with ACIL

Has the Access Center for Independent Living (ACIL) assisted you in finding housing, locating resources, or learning independent living skills? If so, we would love to hear your story.

ACIL takes pride in having positively impacted the lives of thousands in Dayton and its surrounding communities since we opened in 1984. Despite our efforts over the last four decades, many individuals still remain unaware of our services. Some may not realize that we are dedicated to empowering those with disabilities to thrive in life.

Recently, our staff convened to explore ways to enhance our visibility in the communities we serve as we begun to develop our strategic plan for 2025 through 2028. One of the solutions we proposed was to feature the stories of our consumers in our newsletter and on social media. ACIL has been on Facebook and LinkedIn for many years and has recently joined Instagram and TikTok.

This article serves as an invitation to those we have empowered: if you have a story to share about how ACIL has helped you, please reach out. We want to highlight your experiences to inspire others. You will be involved in the process and have full approval over how your story is presented. Together, we can demonstrate to Dayton and its surrounding areas that individuals with disabilities can thrive, and lead fulfilling lives, and ACIL is here to empower them to do just that.

Alternatively, if you prefer not to share your personal story but would like to write about an advocacy issue that you are passionate about, we welcome you to use our newsletter and social media platforms to share your advocacy efforts.

Do you have an issue that you care deeply about and would love to write an article on? Or perhaps you want to share how ACIL has empowered you to help us reach more people?
