ACIL SERVICES
Services That Support Independence
Empowering Individuals. Strengthening Communities.
At the Access Center for Independent Living (ACIL), we believe every person deserves the opportunity to live independently, make their own choices, and participate fully in their community. Our services are designed to help individuals with disabilities build skills, access resources, advocate for themselves, and overcome barriers that limit independence.
Whether you’re looking for guidance, peer support, transition assistance, youth programs, or specialized services, our team is here to help.
Serving Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby counties.
Independent Living Services
Independent Living Services are the foundation of what ACIL provides. We work one-on-one with individuals to develop the skills, confidence, and resources needed to live independently. Services include independent living skills training, advocacy, peer support, information and referral, and community transition assistance. Whether you're adjusting to a new disability, looking for accessible resources, or simply need someone to help navigate available services, we're here to support you.
Transitioning: Long-Term Care to Community
Moving from a nursing facility or other institutional setting back into the community can feel overwhelming. ACIL helps individuals navigate the transition process by coordinating resources, identifying barriers, and providing support throughout each step. Our goal is to help individuals return to the community safely while maintaining as much independence as possible.
Additional Services
ACIL offers a variety of specialized programs that extend beyond our core independent living services. These include disability awareness training, peer support groups, youth transition services, self-advocacy instruction, and community education opportunities. These programs provide additional tools and experiences that help individuals thrive in school, work, and everyday life.
REDI Program
The REDI Program helps individuals build greater independence by connecting them with services, education, and community resources designed to improve quality of life. Participants receive individualized support that focuses on increasing independence while removing barriers to community participation.
Youth Leadership Forums
The Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) helps young people with disabilities prepare for adulthood through leadership development, self-advocacy, career exploration, and independent living education. Students connect with mentors, develop confidence, and gain practical skills that prepare them for college, employment, and community involvement.
Kitchen Connection
Kitchen Connection provides opportunities for individuals to build confidence and independence through practical life skills centered around cooking, nutrition, and healthy living. Participants gain hands-on experience while developing valuable skills they can use every day.
